Rio El Zonte runs down the middle of the valley and cuts Pueblo Loco in two. The sand that sculpts our surf spots comes from this river. So does the shade on a hot afternoon, the water where clothes get washed, and lawns get watered.
It’s also been changing. A new bridge, reinforced banks, development moving in on both sides. But people still come to the river the way they always have.
Sunday June 6 at 8:30am Adam is taking us on a walk. We’ll head down to the bridge, along the banks, easy pace, no rush. Keep your eyes open for birds, fish, wildlife, neighbors going about their morning. Along the way we’ll do a little cleanup, gloves and bags provided. The whole thing is about 30 minutes but you can peel off whenever you need to. The idea is simple: enjoy where we are and leave it a little nicer than we found it.

El Río El Zonte corre por el medio del valle y divide Pueblo Loco en dos. La arena que esculpe nuestros spots de surf viene de este río. También viene la sombra en una tarde calurosa, el agua donde se lava la ropa y se riegan los jardines.
También ha estado cambiando. Un puente nuevo, orillas reforzadas, desarrollo avanzando por ambos lados. Pero la gente sigue viniendo al río como siempre lo ha hecho.
El domingo 7 de junio a las 8:30am Adam nos lleva a caminar. Vamos a bajar hasta el puente, a lo largo de las orillas, a paso tranquilo, sin prisa. Mantén los ojos abiertos para ver pájaros, peces, vida silvestre, vecinos en su mañana. En el camino haremos una pequeña limpieza, guantes y bolsas incluidos. Todo dura unos 30 minutos pero puedes irte cuando necesites. La idea es simple: disfrutar donde estamos y dejarlo un poco mejor de como lo encontramos.
